FUNdamental's Principles:At FUNdamentals 2, we believe that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind - a child's physical, intellectual and emotional development are inseparably linked. We aim to develop the mind-body and mind-brain connections by integrating:
We also believe that the key to learning and development is the rich interaction that takes place between the children, the adults and the environment. This rich interaction also contributes to positive attitudes towards learning. From the "FUNdamentals Guidebook" introductory pages by Colin Rose:"The foundations for the whole range of human talents and abilities are laid down in the first five or six years. A child's early development can be visualised as a series of foundation stages and building blocks. These need to be put in place, step by step in order to achieve the ultimate goal of (self fulfilment) happiness. To the foundations we add building blocks of rich-speaking vocabulary, reading, writing, mathematics, creativity and curiosity, logic and thinking, listening and musical skill, memory and concentration. Brain building - it is not the number of brain cells that determine usable intelligence, it's the number of connections that are made between those brain cells. Connections are formed by the experiences and thoughts prompted through a rich, stimulating environment".
