FUNdamentals Preschool 2 opened in 2008.
We cater for children aged between 0 and 5 years of age and have two separate areas of learning to meet the different developmental needs of the children.
We are located in Burwood with the Avon river running across the road from us providing a peaceful and natural ambience.
We provide spacious inside and outdoor areas with many programmes that provide not only fun, but more importantly,
they stimulate developed learning skills.
Fundamentals has a full day licence. We cater for a maximum of fifty children, of which thirty-nine are preschool children and eleven are nursery age children. The child teacher ratio is one teacher to eight preschoolers and for nursery age children one teacher to four.
Comments from our Education Review Office Report:
"Reviewers observed high levels of cooperative play with older children supporting younger children during times"
"The centre provides high quality education and care for babies to school age children. The staff work effectively as a team to promote learning across the curriculum. They use a range of effective teaching strategies to engage children in the programme and to help them extend their knowledge and understandings. Children of all ages are encouraged to develop their physical skills and gain confidence through participation in well planned and delivered gym and music programmes. Literacy and numeracy are well integrated into the core programme. Learning is challenging, interesting and fun for children."
"A secure and happy environment for children. High staff-to-child ratios help to ensure that staff respond promptly to children and that routines can be varied to meet individual children's needs. The management and staff have well established procedures for maintaining a safe and healthy environment."
"Supervisor and staff have established comprehensive programme planning and child assessment practices. They use well constructed child profiles to monitor individual children's learning and development. Attractive wall displays outline the group programme focus and guidelines for the teaching programme. Charts, posters and learning stories provide an insight into children's learning and the role of the staff in providing high quality programmes".
