Dear all Fundamentals families and Whanau,

As a lot of you will be aware both Fundamentals 1 & Fundamentals 2 are in the Orange Zone set out by Tonkin and Taylor. We have had our own Geotechnical report just completed (rather than wait for Tonkin & Taylor) this week to add to our Engineers reports that were completed in May 2011.

The results of these Geo Tests will now be passed onto our Engineers for design of needed repairs and cost projections to then pass onto our insurers. While the results confirm the conditions of the ground below are not great they are also not dire, it will all come down to the costs associated with land remediation and the Governments decision one which way Orange Zoned properties go...red or Green.

Unfortunately Junes quake has put a significant dent in our plans to open quickly at Fundamentals 3 St Albans, this property incurred a lot of Pile damage and water damage inside from a burst hot water cylinder in the roof space. We have had both EQC and our own insurers NZI do loss analysis on Edward Ave and are now awaiting Hawkins to come in and do the final cost projection before repairs can start which will begin with a complete re-pile.

We are however looking into and alternative location in Merivale that we hope could be up and running in a few months and are currently negotiating the possibility of this site being a new Fundies.

I will advise of any new information as it comes to hand, which we hope will be the decision of F1 & F2 going red or green to allow us the ability to make some definite decisions.
